          The function of the Skate Patrol is to:
  • Skate Patrol Friends
  • distribute in-line skating safety and education information to novice and experienced skaters
  • provide on-site stopping instruction to novice skaters
  • promote the safe use of areas for all participants
  • make skaters aware of park etiquette and ordinances, and help local authorities with injuries.
Vancouver Skate Patrol
The National Skate Patrol is a volunteer arm of the International In-Line Skating Association (IISA). There are 23 National Skate Patrol chapters found in North America and the Caribbean (Virgin Islands).

WE NEED GOOD RECRUITS

The Vancouver chapter of the National Skate Patrol has just completed its tenth season at Stanley Park

We are looking for volunteers for the 2006 season, intermediate to expert skaters with willingness to be part of the solution to the heavy use and mixed sea-wall issues in Stanley Park. Our season starts May 7th, 2006. Please come out and join us!
Terry Fox Run

Must atttend a one day certification clinic.

Must wear safety gear - helmet, wrist guards, elbow/knee pads and a heel brake.

A willingness to skate at least 3 to 4 - three hour shifts a month

Attend a first-aid/CPR clinic.

$25 annual membership dues to National Skate Patrol

Patrollers receive a t-shirt and shorts.

Safety gear, wheels and bearings can be earned based on shifts patrolled.

Many patrollers participate in marathons and in-line races throughout North America.

The patrollers marshal many of the annual events held Stanley Park.

The Patrol has IISA instructors and expert skaters who are willing to pass on their skills to new recruits.

Our season runs from early May to October 1.
